Hi loves!
Sorry for being MIA for so long, boy has August been a hectic month! From taking on new opportunities and enjoying the last few bits of summer, to finally starting my second year of university... Here I am!
I recently just had a short trip to NYC with good friends and being the foodie that I am... I obviously ate until I couldnt fit in my pants anymore! Every time I go to New York, I try to discover new cafés and restaurants.
Since I've been getting a lot of questions regarding the cafés I go to and the food I eat, here is my curated list of places I find completely worth the buck!
1. Chalait
This gem of a place in the West Village is a MUST-try. I discovered this place through Instagram and let me tell you... It's exactly what it claims to be: a matcha H-E-A-V-E-N ! They have an extensive matcha menu as well as a divine tartine/sandwich menu. I go there every time I'm in the city! I highly recommend their Classic Avocado Toast!
2. Happy Bones
This tiny little hole in a wall on Broome St. in SOHO sure does know how to make good coffee. It's easily one of the best hot lattes I've had in a long time! The place is small and cozy, with a decor to DIE for if you're into aesthetically pleasing Instagram pictures like I am!
3. Jack's Wife Freda
OMG. This place! I have heard so many great things about it and I only got to try it for the first time last time... Where have I been?! It's one of the most delicious brunch places in town, without a doubt! They have a very extensive Mediterranean-inspired breakfast/brunch/lunch menu! The place is usually jam packed, needless to say! I went with my friend Talia from Montreal and she had the Green Shakshuka while I had the Madame Freda dish. My mouth is watering as I'm writing this!
4. The Smile
This cozy place was recommended to me by Talia a while back on one of my trip to NYC back in March. It was a stormy day and going to The Smile was probably the best decision we made that day! The place looked like an old tavern on the inside, giving it a cozy and warm feeling... Just what we needed to escape from the cold! Their menu is on the healthier side, but don't be fooled, it's soooo yummy. We had baked brie, quinoa and kale salad and goat cheese and fig sandwich. Totally recommend it!
5. The Butcher's Daughter
Last but not least, there's The Butcher's Daughter. The hype around this place on Instagram is unreal! So of course I had to try it out. First off, the staff is amazingly nice and attentive. Also, they all wear cute T-shirts saying "We sell designer kale", and that, they do! I tried one of the recommended salads which is the Spicy Kale Salad and their Brass Monkey smoothie. Love love love this place!
All pictures were taken by myself with my iPhone 6.
With love,
Katie x
