Hey dolls!
I've been trying out a bunch of different skincare and beauty products this month and I wanted to share with you the ones I haven't been able to put down! Some of the products mentionned are bought with my own money such as the Ordinary products and some were given to me (Shakti Cosmetics, Biotherm and Skinfix inc.) Nonetheless, all opinions are my own and 100% authentic.
To start off, let me tell you a bit about my skin type. I am combination oily, meaning I have an oily T-zone (forehead, nose, chin) and dry (AF) cheeks! This kind of skin type makes it really hard for me to find products that will simultaneously solve my oily and dry skin issues. On top of it, I have hyperpigmentation problems from my acne days (not the kind of Acne™ you want) and uneven skin texture.
1. Face wash
Yes, me too I have nights were I ask myself "Meh, I can sleep with my makeup on right?!" But I cannot stress enough how important it is to wash your face, especially if you wear makeup everyday like I do!
I tried the Biotherm Skin Oxygen line and fell in love with the cleanser (Biotherm Total Depolluting Foaming Melting Gel)! I always remove my makeup first with a makeup wipe and cleanse my face with a face wash afterwards. This Biotherm cleanser lathered really nicely (I don't enjoy non-foaming cleansers) and left my skin feeling clean yet not stripped from its moisture. It completely removed all my foundation etc. without having to double cleanse.
Another face cleanser that I'm absolutely obsessed with is the Skinfix inc. Foaming Oil Cleanser. I was a bit skeptical at first since I've tried oil cleansers in the past. Although most of them did the job, I didn't particularly enjoy them because they didn't lather and they always left some kind of oil residue on my skin. This one from SkinFix though...! I can't even begin to tell you how much I love it. It's 98% natural, it lathers, it cleans really thoroughly and leaves my skin soft and supple. Need. I. Say. More. Oh! And it works extremely well with my combination oily skin as it doesn't make me more oily.
2. Serums
I was never a huge fan of serums, mostly because I never saw immediate results and I'm not the most patient person on the planet! (Forgot those "You will see results in 8 weeks"!) Recently, I've stumbled upon this brand called The Ordinary by Deciem and I was really intrigued by the brand considering the products range from 6-12$ (say WHAT!!!). I read tons of reviews and decided to try it out.
So far, my favorite product is their Ascorbyl Glucoside 12% Solution. It's a water-soluble derivative of Vitamin C that is supposed to act as an antioxidant, reduce signs of aging and brighten the complexion. I've tried this for many weeks now (on and off) and I can assure you that on the nights I use this product, I see a huge difference in my skin the next morning. It is more radiant, plump and bright. It definitely helps with the hyperpigmentation and overall complexion of my skin.
Another product I've been loving is the Shakti Cosmetics Total Youth Serum. This new brand from Quebec makes products that are 100% natural, vegan and non-tested on animals. This serum is made from different essential oils that are non-comedogenic (argan, jojoba and carrot seed oils) and it smells DIVINE! I love to use this serum on days where my skin feels a little bit more dull and dry. After using this serum, I know for a fact that I'll wake up with a glowy and hydrated skin in the morning.
3. Oils
Last but not least, with the weather that we are currently having, it is nearly impossible for me to live without a face oil. My combination oily skin becomes extremely dry (around my cheeks, temples and around my nose) during this time of year. The face oil that I'm currently using and loving is The Ordinary 100% Plant-Derived Squalane. Unlike other oils, it does not clog you pores and it provides extreme surface hydration. I love to use this at the end of my night-time routine, right before bed!
I hope this review helped some of you girls!
Here are the links to the products mentioned in this post!
With love,
Katie xx
