Gold is definitely having a moment this year. Everyone is dripping in gold! But let's be honest, real gold jewelry is not always affordable. Yes you can buy cheapy jewelry at Forever21, but those only last one wear and tarnish by the time you want to wear them again. I've had my fair share of those «disposable» jewelry pieces and I've moved on to better things since then.
I used to only wear silver. I never once thought I would ever be a gold kind-of gal! I was mostly wearing sterling silver or white gold (gifted to me of course). When I started dabbling in gold accessories, I quickly realized that it was not as affordable as silver jewelry so I began looking for affordable brands that could deliver the quality of the silver I was wearing, but in gold.
I found out that there was such a thing as «gold plated sterling silver» aka, the best of both worlds! Sterling silver is a long-lasting material that will withstand water, sweat and will take a lot of wear before tarnishing. The gold plate will make sure that it doesn't tarnish on the outside either and give it a real gold look.
Here are some of my favorite brands and pieces that are affordable for the quality of their jewelry.
Mejuri
Everyone and their mothers wear Mejuri. And for a good reason. Mejuri is a Canadian company that offers everyday fine jewelry pieces without the crazy markup. Some of my favorite pieces include the Zodiac ring, the Dome ring, the Dot necklace and the Tarot necklace. Needless to say, I wear them on the daily!
Shashi
This is a brand I discovered on Shopbop and literally cannot get enough of! They make the most perfect everyday gold jewelry (gold plated sterling silver) that's under 100$. Yes girl, under a 100$! You can shop Shashi here.
Here, I'm wearing the Shashi Gianna hoops as well as the Vera ring. For those who always ask me about my K necklace, I got it on Etsy here! It's a dupe for the Celine one that's way out of my budget. It's also gold-plated and has a nice heaviness to it, making it look and feel more expensive than it is.
Asos
I love love love Asos. You can literally find anything on there! Of course, they also carry pretty dope jewelry that's within the 50$ price range (how crazy is that!) such as these earrings and these hoops.
Five and two jewelry
Lifestyle blogger Sivan Ayla's favorite brand. So obviously it's my fave as well! Most of their pieces are gold plated brass and copper, which are not as resistant as gold plated sterling silver. Because the pieces contain copper as well as brass, they won't tarnish and become green as fast as only gold plated brass. The Bianca and the Shelby necklace are my faves.
Gorjana
Another discovery on Shopbop. They make beautiful unique gold-plated pieces. I love their necklaces because they're absolutely great for layering, which is so in right now! This compass coin necklace is perfect for an everyday layering piece!
